In our time, many of us have been taught to strive for an insane perfection that means nothing. To get wholeness, you must try instead to strive for this kind of perfection, where things that don't matter are left rough and unimportant, and the things that really matter are given deep attention. This is a perfection that seems imperfect. But it is a far deeper thing.

There is never a shortage of talk and discussion going on about which Open Source software is the best and why the package someone uses is the ultimate solution. The great thing about Open Source projects is the community that builds around these projects and starts using the software and hopefully share back to the project to make it better for everyone.
One thing that happens with communities of users is the rise of a focal group that is getting heavily involved and sometimes very emotionally attached to the software and the project. These people spread the word, reach new people which get involved and which again on their turn get others involved. The longer people are part of a community the stronger the bond becomes and many of them will fully focus on the project and software they've become to love.

The third Joomla!Day in Germany will be held from the 24th September to the 26th of September in Bad Nauheim (near Frankfurt). Together with the Virtuemart team the German organizing team has put together an interesting range of workshops and presentations. The three days have different headlines:
Thursday, 24th Sept::Virtuemart Day
Friday, 25th Sept::Joomla! Business Day
Saturday, 26th Sept::Joomla! Community Day
Since I have my birthday on one of these days, I will only be there the Friday evening upfront and the Saturday for the community day. The community day is un-conference style this time, so I have no idea what I need to prepare. Feel free to share some suggestion here if you plan to come to the community day. If if you are unable to attend, and have a specific topic you would like to learn more about, also feel free to drop in ideas, I then will try to handle topic.
See you at the German Joomladays!

We now have described the building blocks required for continuous integration, time to take a closer look to the individual tools. Today we will take a look at tools that will help you validate the implementation of the coding standards. Given the enormous amount of standards used within the various open source projects it is clear that there is no single recipe for good coding standards and coding styles. Looking at the various standards out there, you see variations on the PEAR standards. The Joomla documentation wiki describes the coding standards and are almost an exact copy of the PEAR standards, so the Joomla code base is a perfect test-case for the PHP codesnifffer that can analyse the code-base. Let's start!
Note: all examples imply you are working on a Linux system, please refer to the individual documentation of the mentioned products if you use a different system (like Windows)
